New Era Cake

I made this cake for a 21st birthday...  The brand 'New Era' is a clothing company which the recipient loves.  The cake is very simply decorated with just an edible picture of the New Era logo but I think the effect is still quite stunning.  My client sent me a picture of her, her boyfriend and friends enjoying the cake which was really sweet.

My new daylight lamp

I finally got round to order my daylight lamp last week and it arrived yesterday!  The hope is that on dreary days or those late nights(!) I will still be able to take quality photos of the cakes.

It's much taller than me!!

Here are the before:

and after shots:

I'm quite pleased for my first attempt at lighting - hopefully my cakes will look even better!! ha ha!!

Baby Book Christening Cake

This large book cake was for Harry's Christening celebration.  It is a vanilla sponge filled with raspberry jam and delicious buttercream.  My client chose this cake which is based on a Jane Asher design.

Twilight Cake

I was commissioned to make a Twilight cake for a 13th birthday.  We finally agreed upon a cake decorated as the book with 13 'Edward' lollipops around the edge of the board.

Anyone for an Edward??!!  Here are the lollies lined up waiting to be secured in the cake board holes my husband drilled for me (it's amazing the amount of construction that goes into these cakes you know!)

The finished cake:

I really enjoy painting cake - must do more of it!

My poor little car

I know we Brits keep going on about the difficult weather we're having but just wanted to show the layer of snow on my little car - poor Pierre!

My New Sewing Machine

I've been thinking of getting a sewing machine for a while now (each time Dave asks me to hand sew anything in fact!) and when I spotted these mini machines in John Lewis they seemed perfect so onto my list to Santa they went.
I must have been a good girl as there was one in my stocking (or should that be pillowcase?) on Christmas Day but what with entertaining and our New Year holiday last night was the first chance I got to use it.
It took me ages to work out how to thread the thing but once it was done I managed to sew a little scrap of material and am well chuffed! My first task is to make some napkins..... how hard can they be???

Scrabble Wedding Cake

This cake was for a small wedding being held at Hotel du Vin in Birmingham. The couple like scrabble so the bride-to-be, Miranda, organised a scrabble themed cake as a surprise for her new husband, Colin. Many congratulations!
